A Girl Of Dreams - Part 3

                                            4 MONTHS AGO                                     

Jack was already at the cafe. He had told MK that he'll wait for her in there. He was reading a note from Sandy, a cheerleader and just one of his many admirers.
"My parents won't be home tonight, how about you show me some of your .. "Magic snow"- Sandy"

MK: What are you reading?

                  MK surprise Jack as she seem to have appear out of nowhere.

Jack: I was ... studying. Just studying.

    MK was skeptical. She just sat down and continue to stare.

Jack: Is there something wrong MK?

    Suddenly and startling Jack, MK drop a whole stack of photos. Photos of other girls and photos of Jack himself.

Jack: WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE?!

MK: So you KNOW?

Jack: MK Where did you get those?!

MK: Is easy to get them! The girls are making money out of it! photos of you I expected but the girls?!

Jack: MK those were PRIVATE! You have no right reading my stuff.

MK: I Do when it involves you! I'm suppose to be you girl Jack, your only one.

        MK looked down on the photos.

MK: But apparently I'm nothing special to you.

Jack: MK you ARE special to me.

MK: I ran into Ryoko this morning. She told me that she was your special girl.

Jack: Her? MK she's just a little.-

MK: My friend Esper, in ELEMENTARY , ... she told me that she was your little princess and that once she enter High school you'll be her official boyfriend.

Jack: Esper? She's just a little girl, it's just games ... you don't expect me to break her heart..

MK: Is EVERYTHING a game for you? I know that you are a trickster .. you love tricks... but are you playing one on me too? Is the love between us a LIE?

Jack: MK your overacting! This is not-  .. none of this is serious.

MK: It is for me. It hurts me that I'm not the only girl in your life. Maybe you don't see it that way with your games but I'm worried. I'm worried that tomorrow you'll leave me. That you'll want someone new that is amaze by your tricks.

   Jack couldn't figure out what to say to MK. He was quick to come with a clever response on everything but a serious talk ... he was lost. There was no fun in serious discussions. It was way too much grown-up stuff for his child-like personality.

MK: I want to see you at my house tonight.

Jack: Tonight?! But tonight Tiffany is having a party!

MK: It's only a small gathering between her closest friends, you'll have the big dance coming up this month to catch up with her later. You can send her a note or something as I'm sure you have tons from her. No excuses Jack.

     MK when home leaving Jack alone. Jack stared at Sandy's letter. He knew deep inside he was angry at MK. Who did MK thought she was ordering him around like his mom? He could be anywhere he damn pleased. Still he was a bit relief, at least MK had not found the photos he had taken from spying on the girls bedrooms and showers. He saw the address in Sandy's note and he smiled.





                                               PRESENT

Jack awoke in the ground and as he open his eyes he saw darkness before he saw Elsa's face. She looked scared and .. worry .. and she was calling his name. Was it a dream?

Elsa: JACK! ! Stay with me!! Please don't go!!

  Jack call Elsa's name before she pull him up from the ground and he was finally able to stand.

Jack: What happened??!

Elsa: Don't you remember?? One of those Arsenic Candy girls impaled you with a spear! You are okay, I remove the spear from your chest. The wound is gone.

Jack: You did that for me? Thanks Elsa. I didn't though you-

Elsa: Want my advice? DODGE next time! Now get up and help us! Ty Lee, Mai and Anna need our help!!

                                    Moments ago they had entered the city through the abandoned Grand Barn Al's Department Store. Entering through a locked area of the store they had been able to acquire some toys guns that were powerful enough to work as weapons due to the power they had (Anna explain to Jack about previous toys being unintentionally dangerous) Jack and Elsa were solely depended on their ice powers.

 Upon entering the market they had come across a group of dangerous teenage rebel girls stealing from a teenage boy and holding him at knife point.. Jack had come to the boy's rescue and fend off a number of them. He though the goth chicks would run away but rather they stood there waiting to fight him. It turn out the girls were part of the dangerous female gang, The Arsenic Candy gang. Delville's version of San Fransokyo's own Fujitas.

 Elsa had told them that they were not looking for trouble. Surprisingly the Arsenic candy girls were considering leaving them alone... then Jack had to open his mouth.

Jack: You girl's ain't never heard about me? I'm Jack Frost! I'll freeze your playground if you don't leave us alone!

                    As soon as the Arsenic Candy heard Jack's name they acted hostile.

Red Candy: Your the PRINCE of Crossroads High!!

Purple Sweet: Your the one who stole my brother's girlfriend!!

Stra-Berry: Well , well , well.. We hit the jackpot girls!!

 The lead girls of the gang started to attack Elsa and her group. Elsa was force to use her powers to create a barrier between the gang and her group. She told everyone to retreat but Jack Frost told her that together they could fight them off. Jack got immediately impale in the chest after steeping out of the barrier. Ty Lee, Mai and Anna had to return to give Elsa cover as he revive Jack Frost with a mysterious syringe.

  Remembering what had happened Jack immediately assisted in helping the girls fight off the Arsenic
Candy gang. The gang retreated with the combine might of the five.

Jack: WE DID IT!!

   Elsa came to Jack frost and slapped him!

Elsa: We were trying to keep a low profile you idiot!!! Now everyone is going to come after us looking for a fight.

Mai: Way to go Guardian of Idiocy.

    They started walking into the store when Elsa suddenly started to search for her backpack. Ty Lee brought it to her after finding it in the spot where she helped Jack. Elsa immediately opened it and found the doll!! The very same one that Jack had seen her sleep with and in his nightmare.

Elsa: Dipper is okay!

   Elsa said smiling as she gave it a hug close to her face.

Elsa: My little Dipper..

  Jack was disturb by it. How could she express such affection for a doll yet act completely cold towards him? He wanted to tell Elsa about it but something told him it was better for him to keep his mouth shut.

Ty Lee: Jack, you did well.

  Ty Lee told him smiling. In that situation it was a welcome relief, Ty Lee was the only he felt safe with .. or happy with.


The Arsenic candy girls headed straight to the center building of OutCity. It was the only one that still look new. Inside the place was a big club where everyone from the zone came together to party. it was also the home of the current leader of OutCity. The lead girls of the Arsenic Gang when straight to the top of the building to the main office of the boy in charge. The boy was simply known to everyone as Devon.

Devon: Might favorite citizens of OutCity, what's brings you in girls?

Red Candy: We have intruders!

Devon: This is OutCity, we always have intruders. They either leave or learn to fit in! What's different about these ones?

      Purple Sweet pull out her iphone X and showed Devon footage of the fight. He got up close and saw the images of Elsa & Jack Frost fighting together side by side.

Devon: Goddammit...

      Devon's behavior change from layback to dead serious.

Devon: How long ago did this happened?

Stra-Berry: Exactly 35 minutes.

Devon: Good. About time we gave them a welcome. Guess Elizabeth Comstock was right, however it was them that came looking for trouble not US.

     He immediately turn all the monitors to show the footage that his cameras were catching in the zone. Of all them were now following the girls. Especially Jack and Elsa.

Devon: So, Again? I have so much fun destroying you two last time... I'll be very happy to do it again.



Elsa had been able to track down some small kids. From what her sources told her, if anybody knew what was going on in Outcity it was the small children. In exchange for candy they told whatever they knew. Lucky for Elsa she had come across their main hiding place! This was no accident as the children had led her there as well as her companions intentionally. They had seen Elsa in action in her fight against the Arsenic Candy Gang. Elsa realize this as she enter their place and was treated as a goddess by them.
 "Do Your Magic!!" some of the kids shouted and Elsa comply by creating snowflakes inside the hideout. They were all hypnotize by the snow. They were blown away when Elsa build a small but still complex Ice castle.

Jack: I can do that too kids!

  The children immediately turn to face him.

Jack immediately formed a snow ball and threw it against the wall.

"That's it?"

"Can you build a ice castle"

Jack: That?! oh I can't, you see I-

"YOU SUCK!!"

"Yeah, Your just a mutant!"

  The kids were acting hostile towards Jack. Anna immediately step in to prevent the kids from attacking.

Anna: Your right kids! He's just a mutant. ... (Who needs to keep his mouth shut)...  Now that THAT'S out of the way we  have a question for you. Did any of you saw this girl walk around here?

  Anna pulled out of photo of MK. The kids got close to see the photo.

Lullabye: That's MK!!

  A freckle face blonde girl said from the crowd along with others.

Lullabye: She came to live with us and read us stories. She was our princess just like you are one.

Elsa: Me? How do you kids know that?

   Two boys pulled out a book. It was the Snow Queen.

Elsa: Oh.. THAT. I guess I am!




Jack had decided to step outside when Ty lee followed him.

Ty Lee: Is there something wrong Jack?

Jack: No, I'm okay.

Ty Lee: Your not a very good liar.

Jack: Okay I'm not. I'm not feeling okay at all! I'm great with kids but today's the first time I was treated like .. THAT! I'm not sure what happened.. and then there's Elsa! Why is she so cold towards me?? Why did she bring me along if she hates me so much?!! I want to make her like me cause I like her so much but she ..

Ty Lee: I see... Why do you want her to like you? This is the first time you have seen her.

Jack Frost: I can't explain, It's ... complicated.

Ty Lee: You can tell me. I won't tell anyone.

Jack Frost: Okay, ... here it goes. I feel like I know her , like I already met her before. When I told her that I saw her in a dream, I was not kidding or joking. I really did saw her in my dreams.

Ty Lee: Like a forgotten memory .. or a past life?

Jack Frost: EXACTLY!! That! Is like fate had already brought us together in the past. Like we belong together. I see her in my dreams and she's with me! It doesn't even feel like a dream .. it feels so REAL. You might think I'm crazy but that what's been happening to me lately.

Ty Lee: I don't think your crazy Jack, I believe you.

Jack Frost: You do? Why?

Ty Lee: Because I seen it in your eyes.. the way you look at her. I see your aura and it glows everytime you are near her. Your attraction to her is powerful.

Jack Frost: I wish she could see it.

Ty Lee: Perhaps soon she will. Right now I guess she believes those nasty rumors about you hurting MK, I'm sure that none of it is true. You could never be a bad boyfriend.

      Ty Lee's innocent assumption about him was starting to bother him. He didn't know why but he felt it was time to come clean to Ty Lee. He trusted her.

Jack Frost: It was me who broke up with Mk.

Ty Lee: What?

Jack Frost: I hurt her, We had a fight and she ..

 A loud explosion interrupted them, they turned to see the direction where the blast sounded from and immediately saw a bright purple light heading towards them!

Ty Lee: Is that a .. Meteor?!

Jack Frost: No, I recognize that light.. Is my Ex!!

  Ty Lee gave Jack a quick suspicious look.

Jack Frost: Not MK, Someone I regret talking too!

  The light crashed into the concrete floor and a female figure stood up. She was wearing a miniskirt and a purple shirt, her leather black knee-high boots matched  her black hair.

Sunny: So glad to see you again!.. Boyfriend.

  She said as she light up her hands in a glowing energy ball of purple plasma ... and shot it straight towards Jack and Ty Lee!!





                                                       3 MONTHS AGO

   Jack arrived to the apartment. He when in and immediately noticed that the lights were off.

Jack Frost: MK? I'm home. Are you here?

  He walked over to the kitchen table and found a note. It read,
"Goodbye Jack. I won't longer be a burden in your life. - signed Mary Katherine."

                  Jack ran outside to the streets, rain was coming in hard and the view was blurry. Could he still find her? How long had she been gone? Jack ran towards the street hoping to catch a glimpse of her, anything! He looked near the school and eventually in the downtown area. He search in the final place where she had might head to, the Grayhound bus station. He arrived there only to find that no bus had departed that day.
 
   He arrived home and entered Mk's room. It was when looking through her window that he notice that Outcity was visible from there. He immediately figure out where MK had runaway too. OutCity.

Jack: Forget you MK.


 



                                                                                PRESENT

????: Good show! Nothing special but I am impress. You stop one of my yawnings.

Jack: WHAT ?? Where am I??

        The last thing Jack remembered before losing conscious was that he was in a fight against his former girlfriend Sunny. He fought her before a strong energy blast from her hit his head. Now he awoke alone in a tunnel with a Tv monitor in front of him. Someone was speaking to him through the tv screen.

???:  Would you get up now! That wasn't even a Level 5 blast and your ass is out?! What good are you then?!

Jack: Who are you?!!

   Jack demanded once he got his mind clear and became aware of his surrounding.

Devon: My name is Devon Underland Frost. Leader and master of this city.


Jack Frost: Frost?? You have my last name! Are you-

Devon Frost: Oh God I hope NOT!! No, Frost is just a very common last name. It's nothing special. And further more if I had a relative he most certainly wouldn't be You! I watch you ever since you came into my city JACK and I am disappointed. Frankly, I am disgusted. You make me sick.

Jack Frost: I don't know who you think you are but I don't want any problem with you and you shouldn't mess with me if you know what's right for you.

Devon Frost: My dear God your hilarious!! You tell me to leave you alone yet dare me to a fight in the same sentence. Impressive display of stupidity! I am surprise Elsa has tolerated you this far.

Jack Frost: Leave her out of this!! You hear me!!

Devon Frost: This is my town hotshot! I can do whatever I desire. You have no power here. You might pull everyone's string back in that pussy fest school of yours but here I am the True Man. Everyone in this city knows that. They fear and respect me. You ... your nothing but a pretty boy, a bland poster boy, a punk!

Jack Frost: SCREW YOU!!

Devon Frost: You ARE a punk Jack and you'll DIED like a punk. That's why Elsa hates you! Your nothing but a punk-ass. And everyone that believes otherwise is a poser. A no talent hack!!

Jack Frost: SHUT UP!!

    The monitor was suddenly covered in ice and exploded. Jack is stunned, He never even touch it. He turn around and saw Elsa standing before him. In her face Jack saw a whole new expression ... it almost looks like ..PITY.



Devon stared at his monitor. He had found Jack to be everything he had expected him to be. Jack was a naive cocky arrogant foolish blank youth. The idea that Devon ,a clone Genius, was related to Jack Frost almost made Devon vomit. Jack was the epitome of human perfection wasted. All because of a foolish pursuit to be with a Princess. Devon was not gonna tolerate the presence of someone like Jack Frost in his majestic underground city.. especially with Elizabeth's theory that he and Jack frost were related. He had the perfect solution to that. Devon activated a speaker.

Devon: Breach sweety, I got a new toy for you...

   The door to his office opens and in steps a Gothic Asian schoolgirl , with four distorted arms!

Devon: Go and play.

   The mutant girl, only called "Breach", smiles before she disappears into a red mist.





Elsa: Whatever he told you it's not true.

Jack Frost: What would you know about? Ever since I been with you, you have given me quite a treatment. It's almost like you have a frozen heart.

Elsa: It's a serious situation Jack, treat it as such. I know you can. Which is why  I know why Devon is wrong. Your more than he makes you out to be.

Jack Frost: And what more can I be??

Elsa: You have no idea just how special you are.

Jack Frost: Special huh?? Special like you?

Elsa: Almost, you can almost say we have a lot in common. Ther ...    Jack?

   Elsa suddenly noticed Jack staring blankly straight ahead. He was almost in a trance.

Elsa: Jack??!! Jack are you okay??!! ANSWER ME!!

    Suddenly from the distance came Ty Lee, she have been searching for them.

Ty Lee: Elsa!! You found Jack!! Wait, what's happening to him??

     Elsa turned to see Ty Lee, She noticed that Elsa was looking uneasy and nervous.

Elsa: Ty Lee, ... He's remembering!!!








  Jack Frost was seeing everything, he was seeing all of his past memories! He had unlocked his real past, His previous life!!


He found himself living in a village, being friends with all the village children. Laughing, playing with and doing tricks on them.. it was so much fun!! He also had a little sister, her name was Olivia. He love spending time with her..

 Then suddenly he found himself and his sister in danger. They were standing on a frozen lake .. about to break. His sister was scared, Jack needed to rescue her from the ice.

Olivia Frost: Jack, I'm scared!

Jack Frost: I know, but you're gonna be alright,
He try to keep her calm .. he try to make it into a game. Olivia wasn't so sure.

Jack: Would I trick you?

Olivia Frost: Yes! You always play tricks!

 Still he manage to convince her that it was a game of hopscotch. He succeeded in saving her sister, but he had foolishly maneuver himself on the same cracked surface. The ice broke and he fell down to his death.

There was darkness and he felt cold. When he open his eyes again he found himself alive. He was in the same pond, only it was night. The moon was full. It was at that moment that he discovered his powers... the power to cause frost and fly!! It had been a magical moment. No other moment could compare to that except the day that he kissed El--- He was moving to FAST.. Jack started to feel dazed and shellshock. He was missing something, something very important..

He was standing right in front of the Guardians!!

North: Cause you are a Guardian now!!!!

    It had been right after the defeat of Pitch. Jack started to remember the events of Christmas 2012!! Jamie Bennett, Recovering his memories of his past life, the battle of Burgess!! Everything was coming back to him!!

And then he remember her,  Princess Elsa! Discovering her one day while she was showering outside, spying on her, stalking her through her palace for days... and then he finally revealed himself to her..

Elsa: Who are you??

Jack Frost: I am your Guardian.

  He gave her a snowflake and Elsa touched it. It was then that he saw everything that he wanted to see, what his heart desired ... Elsa loved him!! He saw of his memories of him and Elsa being together. They have been a couple! He knew it!

Dancing together, eating together, laughing together, walking together and using their powers together ... It was a dream!!! It had been real!!







      Jack Frost's vision came back to the place where he stood before Elsa.

Jack Frost: Elsa??

Elsa: Jack?

   Jack smiled to her.

Jack Frost: I remember, I remember EVERYTHING!!

Elsa: You do??

   Elsa had a uneasy expression on her face.

Jack Frost: Elsa,  I knew it.. We belong together. We WERE together! I don't know what happened to us but now I KNOW. We loved each other.

       Elsa came slowly towards him, getting very close to him. Jack thought Elsa was closing him for a kiss. He felt that was going to happen.

Elsa: What else do you remember??

Jack Frost: What else?? What else is there?? Elsa you loved me and I loved you too. That's the truth. We were made for each other. All those times all those moments we once shared .. It wasn't here but it was on a place of our own. A place made for the two of us. Elsa can't you see it??? You love me ..
 
    Jack Frost stretch out his arm toward Elsa. Jack smiled to her. Elsa backed away from him. Something was very wrong..

Elsa: You don't remember do you?

Jack Frost: Remember? Elsa I saw all of it!! I know!!

Elsa: NO !! YOU DON"T KNOW!!! YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE THE SLIGHTEST CLUE DO YOU!!! YOUR SEEING ONLY WHAT YOU WANNA SEE!!!!

   Elsa shouted at Jack, He was surprised and scared at her anger. Her previous disgust towards him before was nothing compare to Elsa shouting at the top of her lungs towards him. It was like she had gone completely insane. This wasn't the Elsa Jack knew, something was obviously very wrong.

Elsa: YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO REMEMBER!!

               Jack Frost was left speechless. He was scared of Elsa. Suddenly the silence was interrupted by the shadow of a girl, A girl with two pairs of arms!!

Jack Frost: What that??!!-

   Jack was stunned at the bizarre appearance of the four-armed girl when she suddenly extended her arms and two red glowing portals appeared beside her, and then she send them straight towards Jack and Elsa!!

Jack Frost: Elsa Run!!!

    Jack screamed while Elsa immediately raised a barrier of ice between her and the falling portals.



It happened so fast that Jack Frost barely had time to be aware of his surroundings. They both just ran from the portals that demolished anything they came in contact with. By the time they finally outran the four-armed girl's range they found themselves lost in a balcony overlooking what appear to be the inside of a school stage. Jack Frost turned to look at Elsa for guidance. However she was catching her breath just like him. He look down on the floor and noticed her backpack. It was open .. and he could see Elsa's doll , The one she call "Dipper".

     Fresh from his experience of remembering his memories as well as Elsa's reaction towards him, Jack acted on impulse and grabbed the doll from Elsa's backpack who quickly notice the act.

Elsa: Jack?! Give that back to me! Now!!

Jack Frost: This?! You LOVE this thing?? What is it with you and this doll??

Elsa: Jack Please?! Give it back to me, PLEASE?

Jack Frost: You really love this thing do you? Elsa I was your boyfriend!! You loved me! All this time you treated me like a stranger and even now that I finally know who I am ,, you refuse to love me! Yet you show your love and appreciation for this damned TOY!!

Elsa: IS NOT A TOY!!!

Jack Frost: I can see that for you is more than that.. just how much do you love this thing?

            Jack extended his arm with the doll over the edge of the balcony. He was going to drop it!

Elsa: JACK PLEASE DON'T DO IT!!! DON'T HURT HIM!!!

Jack Frost: Elsa I am your TRUE LOVE !!! NOT THIS STUFFED DOLL!!!

   Elsa was starting to shed tears.

Elsa: PLEASE JACK?! DON'T HURT HIM AGAIN!!

Jack Frost: Hurt him??? What are you talking abou-

    Those words from Elsa suddenly had a effect on him.. "Don' hurt him again?" What was Elsa talking about? Had she gone nuts? Or .. Jack suddenly looked at the doll. He notice a mark on the doll's forehead, it was a line that connected a bunch of dots that formed the Big Dipper constellation!

Jack Frost: The little Dipper ...

Suddenly his mind was blurry and he felt disoriented. His mind was no longer in that place with Elsa but somewhere else..







He saw the same images of Him and Elsa together but this time, he notice something he had not seen before. A small boy was always close by, always present with Elsa before he got to her. In fact the nights he spy on Elsa he realize that Elsa have never been alone, she was always sleeping next to the young boy.

Elsa: I found him, I named him Dipper after his mark.

   Elsa was presenting Dipper to Jack Frost on the very same day he revealed himself to Elsa.

Jack Frost: Hiya Champ!

Dipper: ... yeah, Hi to you too...

        Dipper had always been a bother to him and a obstacle between him and Elsa. Elsa love to tell him that Dipper was smart. After many confrontations Jack Frost believed it, Dipper was obviously aware that Jack Frost wanted to get in bed with Elsa and not in the way that Dipper was doing with Elsa. No, Jack did not wanted to just sleep next to Elsa .. he wanted to have sex with her! He wanted to make Elsa his. He could easily charm and seduce Elsa but Dipper was always there to ruin his chances with Elsa. Dipper was making it clear to Jack that Elsa was his Girlfriend (or was going to be) and he wanted Jack out of her life. He wanted to be the only guy in her life. Her Boy Toy..





Jack Frost: "Elsa's little boy toy"    

Those words ran inside Jack's head as he accidentally drop the Dipper doll down the fall. Jack barely had time to hear Elsa scream and see her running toward the balcony. She jump down to the dark abyss!

Breach: That's a pretty doll. If she wants it that bad... Then I WANT IT.
    Breach said appearing next to Jack who was scared and startled by her sudden close proximity to him. She threw a portal and ran towards it. Seeing a glimpse of Elsa in that portal and Breach going after her Jack knew he had to act quickly. He threw himself into the crimson portal as it started to close. It was like going throught a underwater current if the water was red and if he could breathe. Despite this overwhelming force Jack ran and manage to get a hold of one of Breach's bigger arms.

  Together they landed on a debris filled floor. Far off across the ruined room Jack saw Elsa picking up the doll. Jack called to her but Elsa immediately started to run away from him.

Elsa: Get away from me!! You heartless monster!!

Jack Frost: Elsa WAIT!!

   Jack started to get up but he was knocked down by Breach who threw a portal to Elsa. Elsa was caught in the red portal and vanish into thin air!!

Jack Frost: NNNOO!!! ELSA!!!!

Breach: She's mine now! Both her and her toy. They shall be my new special friends.

    Jack turned towards Breach who seem rather happy with his anguish.

Jack frost: I don't care who or WHAT you are!! Give Elsa back to me!!

Breach: No. Finders keepers!

Jack Frost: Give her back to me now!!

Breach: NNOOO!!! You never loved her!! I'll love her more than you!! I'll never hurt any of her friends like you did.

   Jack felt desperate and angry. Where was Elsa?? and even more ... what was she talking about!!? Breach opened a red portal and enter it. Jack immediately ran and caught Breach! Both stumble into the dimensional pocket and Breach try to get Jack off of her. Finally she threw him off and he screamed as fell into the red current. There was a loud flash of light and Jack hit the floor.

  He opened his eyes and found Elsa lying on a carpet floor. She was in a different room separated by a glass wall and a single door. Jack suddenly notice that they were inside some kind of restaurant. He got up and saw windows, there was a view of the city. It was the city of Delville! Had they escape OutCity??

   Jack noticed the Dipper doll in the floor next to Elsa. The doll was made to resemble Dipper, whatever had happened to Dipper was the reason that doll was special to Elsa. Jack felt guilty for being harsh on Elsa. He headed for the door to enter Elsa's position. She seemed to be unconscious. Suddenly the speaker next to the door was on and out came Devon's voice.
