So I got to see Black Panther this saturday and after posting it, someone email me to do a cartoon recast for the movie similar to the ones done by JOSGUI the-queens-thief.deviantart.co…
Not a fan of those but the person wanted me to do one since Josgui haven't done one for Black Panther even with the movie already out and being a MASSIVE PHENOMENOM and CULTURAL EVENT (considering the lack of black CGI characters in kids movies I can understand why). He requested me to do it but no White washing, meaning that all black characters can only be recast with black animated characters. This was really important to him. I agree to the request under two conditions,
1. No Jelsa ship - No casting that would had Elsa and Jack romantically involve in the scenario.
2. Jack Frost can only have Villain roles - I have been pretty crystal clear just how much I dislike Jack and ROTG.
He agree and so I got to work on it casting it with the black characters I know and my favorites. So here's the recast..
Huey as T'Challa/Black Panther
Riley as Erik Killmonger
Tianna as Nakia
Daisy Fitzroy as Okoye
Madelyn Spaulding as Shuri
Tara as Queen Ramonda
Frozone as Zuri
Wasabi No-Ginger as W'Kabi
Jack Frost as Ulysses Klaue
Ronin as Everett K. Ross
Casting explanations
Huey as Black Panther - The main role was difficult. I didn't wanted nerdy characters for this role (you know the stereotypical cartoon black nerd friend.) but a strong and very vocal yet reserve personality for this. So out of the top of my head I could only think of Huey from the Boondocks. Once I got my Panther, the next casting became so much easier.
Riley as Killmonger - The way Erik acted in Wakanda with his Oakland attitude pretty much reminded tooo much of Riley's antics in the show so it was just right for him to be in the role. But mostly he just looks badass in that role.
Tiana as Nakia - I wanted to add a Disney character that has been badly ignore by the crossover fans and that was Princess Tiana who fans keep forgetting she's part of the new Disney rebirth and keep shoving her to the past. I know she's 2d animation but seriously even in hand drawn crossover fanart she's ignore by the DisneyWorks. Now THAT'S racist in my opinion.
Daisy Fitzroy as Okoye - This is part of my favorite characters list and one of the top 5 was Daisy from Bioshock Infinite who would actually fit pretty well as a warrior and spy for Wakanda.
Madelyn Spaulding as Shuri - My fav girl from Static Shock, I always wanted to see Madelyn as a more nicer and fun type than the one-time typical villain she was in the show, so casting her as Shuri is exactly how I have imagined writting her in my earlier fanfics.
Tara as Queen Ramonda - A cool character from the criminally forgotten underrated movie Epic (in my opinion a much better movie based on Joyce's work than the overrated Rise Of The Guardians) who really fits the role of Wakanda's Queen.
Frozone as Zuri - Kinda divided on this one since I kept thinking of him being better suited for T'Challa's dad but the flashback to Oakland really convince me to give him this role.
Wasabi No-Ginger as W'Kabi - meh, this was just filling it with as many black CGI characters I knew as possible which wasn't many.
Jack Frost as Ulysses Klaue - Part of my rule to cast Jack as the villain, but I think this one is perfect. Klaue does feel like someone that Jack Frost could grow into, Jack loves games and pranks so it does seem that when he let's himself go and grows old he would be trolling people while causing mayhem. Plus I can really see him speaking those lines..

Ronin as Everett K. Ross - As much as I though it was criminal to cast a White guy in a iconic Black role, I have no bad feelings towards Ronin like I do with Frostface (Both being Joyce created characters) so I though I'll give him a much better fitting role for him and not just because of is race. Ronin is a guy dedicated to his duty and serving his kingdom and hence he would made a perfect CIA agent that can be allies to the nation of Wakanda.
