LOVED IT!

REVIEW OVER!

Okay but to go more on details, This was a fun episode of Amphibia (along with Toadcatcher) and really the Gravity Falls I was craving for a long long LONG time.

So before, I had some mid-high hopes. Yes I was excited but having some experience, I kept my expectations low. First like most, I was so expecting for a full Gravity Falls cast reunion. Have frog versions of Dipper and Mabel, and maybe even Wendy and Pacifica.

Of course knowing the details, it was a fact that THAT was not going to happen and we where just gonna get Frog Stan and Soos and realistically, MAYBE Dipper and Mabel might show up at the end of the episode, possibly a quick cameo. Or Not, which was what exactly happened. Yet I was still fine cause it was so damn good, Plus Anne is my favorite current character (and also helps that Amphibia isn't too obsess with Demons and the paranormal like GF was.. personal taste). plus Sprig and Polly are basically Dipper and Mabel in my opinion, as I been saying before https://www.deviantart.com/triassiclane/art/Honest-Trailers-Amphibia-828449253

Plus LOVE the interaction between Anne and Frog Stan and for me that was what I wanted to see, how Anne would react to someone like Stan. And yes as we saw Anne would probably be easily be tricked by Stan much to his surprise (funny that Stan pointed this out to her.)

Now as for Stan (he's call the Curator but he's Stan to a T) being EVIL, Yeah I have no problem with and it actually brought back the old fandom memories when people though he was evil. For me I don't mind it and find it to be a entertaining and a daring move, to have Alex do a evil version of a character that people have grown to be attached to (.. he does love alternate dimensions and such, that comes with the territory, plus anyone remember the Anti-Mabel? https://www.deviantart.com/triassiclane/art/Lost-Legends-Anti-Mabel-762482346 )

Also don't forget that Canon Stan sorta did this, since he kidnapped a random visitor and displayed him as a attraction because he didn't wanted to buy anything from his store https://gravityfalls.fandom.com/wiki/Little_Gift_Shop_of_Horrors

So really not out of character for Stan to do this, only Frog Stan when the extra mile.

I can see Alex thinking of this as being a great way to explore alternate versions of these characters, and what they might have been under different circumstances. I'm not one to be a fan who believes that, "HE must ALWAYS be good! HE'S A SAINT!!" mindset (obvious with my treatment of Jack Frost, or having a good version of Azula for a change) cause if these characters must still be relevant years from now you have to explore other ways to portrayed them (hence the Reverse Pines have been my favorite fandom fanfics of them).

However as recently revealed on Instagram, there's a reason Stan was evil in this as this screenshot below shows..

SmartSelect 20200811-114426 Instagram

Yeah I'm okay with that explanation, and confirms my theory that he did not died as Tv Tropes makes it out to be https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Recap/AmphibiaS2E10WaxMuseum

I mean the Curator broke the 4th wall by telling everyone that the "blood" that came out from under the door was "just wax". Maybe a joke to get away with the rating but I buy it that he survived.

Don't think we will ever see him after this, sure of that but knowing canon Stan, faking his death was something he could pull off and probably did knowing he was a great scam artist, yeah I assume that's a possibility here too.

Anyway easter eggs, yeah I seen them from other videos (mostly from Roundtable https://youtu.be/pCTk8afA3wk and not much to say about them since I wasn't part of the fans who were searching for clues (I just looked them up later on the wiki).

However I gotta point out my favorite Easter Egg of these and that being "Dipcifica 4 lyfe"

SmartSelect 20200811-114638 YouTube

Yeah I got a chuckle out of that , and boy pretty sure some fans are really going to hate that cause they really don't like Pacifica as a Dipper love interest. I don't mind and actually like the interaction both Dipper and Pacifica have, from the Northwest Mansion Mystery episode https://gravityfalls.fandom.com/wiki/Northwest_Mansion_Mystery to the Face It story in the Lost Legends book https://gravityfalls.fandom.com/wiki/Gravity_Falls:_Lost_Legends So this is a continuation of those stories. And I'm okay with that and hope to see more, if there's any more Gravity Falls material to go.

Overall, Great episode and a great interaction between Alternate Gravity Falls characters and our Amphibia cast, and for me proof that Amphibia was the right follow-up to Gravity Falls, and this is just me But, I actually like Amphibia better than Gravity Falls since it doesn't have it's flaws. (wasted characters, Spoiled characters, better villains, a more interesting conflict between Anne and Sasha. Unnecessary romance that went nowhere or and just served to be a lame lesson... Which I think Amphibia perfectly makes fun when Anne kicked Hop Pop off the wagon when he asked if she had a boyfriend https://youtu.be/WfFfZkMxSoc

Up Next,

Next episode is the long awaited "Marcy At The Gates" and I can't wait to see the debut of a character that has long been a mystery to us despite being at the intro.

Some time back, I got some notes from a watcher asking me to see their Fanfic story plot for Frozen 2. I don't remember much but it reminded me a lot of the Fanscription videos about a alternate Frozen storyline where Anna became Evil https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTaAGP4BV4Y I thought it was okay and so-so but not what I would had like to see in Frozen 2,

I got asked if I had any fanfic story for Frozen 2 that would had been a much better movie.

As I said in my first review, I think the movie was fine but kinda overhype an didn't live up to the expectations including mine with the ending of Anna settling down and Elsa leaving to live alone in isolation, pretty much what she wanted to do in Frozen 1 https://www.deviantart.com/triassiclane/journal/Frozen-2-Honest-First-thoughts-821163404

And I haven't talk much about, Except for posting fanart mentioning all the changes that I would had done to Frozen 2 to make it the sequel that I wanted or had been imagining in my head for years.

So now that some time has passed as well as no new Disney animated movies thanks to the Virus changing our world to quarantine, here's a revisit to Frozen 2 and the stuff that I wanted to see in it and some structure for the sequel that I would had made, and answer my watcher's questions about how would I had handle it, especially in how much they know I LOVE Frozen and my HATRED for Jelsa.

Here's my takes.

1. IT NEEDED A VILLAIN.

Okay so I'm not someone who likes villains, especially if they are of the "I'm So Evil!! HAHAHAHA SCARY!" variety and have no legit reason to be evil other than to be a utter dick-- https://www.deviantart.com/triassiclane/art/Ace-Savvy-Vs-Velhallen-Beo-Response-to-Hater-773858629

BUT after seeing Frozen 2 and what it deal with,. I think it should have had a villain to make the story more engaging.

So what kind of villain would I had chosen for Frozen 2. Well I'm not fond of the old cartoon villains of the past.. BUT one recent animated villain did came in my mind and blew me away in how She was EVERYTHING I wanted for a Frozen 2 villain.

ZHAN TIRI!

Frozen 2 - Who should had been the Villain

Now THIS is the villain I imagined for Frozen 2, heck they even got the look right!

After seeing the 1st trailer, I envisioned seeing other human elementals that could oppose Elsa, and among many ideas I wanted a Anime-Goth- looking Girl villain who could challenge Elsa. A character that would stand out from the rest of Frozen and astound audiences with her looks and powers. We didn't got that but Tangled the series actually gave me that with Zhan Tiri, a ancient evil sorceress who has the power to take the form of various things to threaten Corona. We didn't saw much of her power in child form but she was quite the chess master! Actually getting her hands dirty to cause chaos. Her final Demon form reminded me so much of Maleficent's Dragon form.

And while her motivation is pure greed for power, she made up for that shallow reason by being terrifying! Her facial features really were memorable and stood out from the usual fare of the show in showing her evilness in her insane demented facial features. She really stood out as being a memorable Disney villain and for me she's already a classic, she only needed a movie to be in, which in my book should had been Frozen 2.

So what would her motivation had been??

Haven't figure it out, but taking the whole elements plot and Zhan Tiri's own quest for mystical powers with the stones, something could be work out where Zhan Tiri targets the Elementals and/Or Ahtohallan to harvest the power for herself.

What connection does she have with the sisters? How about none. We are kinda overdoen with these villains having connections to the hero or related (see Star Wars). She just shows up as having sense Elsa's magic and either tracking Elsa down to steal her power or simply trying to beat Elsa to the island or contact and steal the power of the other elementals before Elsa meets them or can warned them or they are teaming-up against her.

Or maybe one of the other elementals can be the villain!

And been mentioning these elementals, about them..

2. THE ELEMENTALS (OR SEASONS) ARE HUMANS.

Probably the biggest disappointment I had with the movie even before I saw it was the Elements, who were are unimpressive obstacles or just elemental animal sidekicks. The entire reason I was even interested in the elements was to see what new "Elsas" were we gonna get with the elements, new characters, new distractions so the fans could stop worshipping Elsa as the greatest thing in Frozen (and overall, stop the Jelsa craze that was plaguing the fandom.)

But at last it wasn't so, and even the elements angle didn't made any sense. As How It Should Had Ended pointed it out, Ice as a element doesn't make sense when Water is in the lineup.. and then you have the Disney wiki posting out that Elsa isn't so much of a element (already discrediting the stupid "Elsa is a ice spirit just like Jack Frost!" theory) but Elsa IS ACTUALLY THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE SPIRIT WORLD AND HUMAN WORLD.. so shouldn't Elsa just been a prophet of sorts then, or how about, wield all the elements then if she's suppose to represent all of the elements?!

Overall it wasn't well executed and as many fans pointed out, it was Disney trying to be Avatar but it failed by casting dumb creatures than interesting humans.

I did several casting on the elements and while I have none of the years of creativity that Disney creators have, I think my casting choice are a little more possible (visually at least) in Frozen 2 it disney had taken that route.

Below is my first recasting, and going heavily for my concept ideas for each element and personality.

Frozen 2 - Recasting The Elements concept casting

And my second which I think fits closets to what I think could had been possible in Frozen 2, visually and marketable to promos and each character standing as her own to audiences and also in the merchandise. You can see easily see each concept casting create a character that fans will split on each being their favorite for different reasons, as oppose to Frozen 2 still leaving fans with saying how Elsa was still their favorite character.

Frozen 2 Human Elements recast - Cinematic version

And here's also one for the alternative plot of Seasons which was something many people had express as being more oginal and unique than the tired old elements plot.

Frozen 2 - Season Spirits concept casting

Really all these recastings- the end result is still having actual characters with speaking roles and their own stories to add to Frozen 2, as oppose to the lazy re-used Marshmallow models for Rock Giants, a wind that you forgot was there, and two animal sidekicks with the lizard and water horse.

We already had enough sidekicks already with Olaf, Kristoff and Sven. Which were also another problem for the sequel for me and a unpopular opinion..

3. TOO MANY SIDEKICKS - OLAF AND KRISTOFF WERE NOT NEEDED.

Olaf stopped being funny ever since the shorts came out that focus on him, even more with Olaf's Frozen Adventure. His existence makes me uncomfortable. WIll Olaf die along with Elsa? Is he immortal?? A bunch of questions that make me question the reality of Frozen more than they probably intended. Really my opinion is that Olaf should died, cease to exist, and actually stay dead, no resurrection. It might teach kids a lesson in how not all things last forever .. for me I just don't want him anymore.

But probably my more unpopular opinion, I don't like Kristoff being here and should had stayed in Frozen 1. He really added nothing to Frozen 2 other than a unfunny clique proposal plot that only brought a bad 80's music video parody. Just filler.

And his resolution, well here's where Frozen 2 fails for me and my biggest sin in Frozen 2.

Frozen 2 - How the Question should had ended

4. THE BAD ENDINGS - THE MANDATORY WEDDING -- ELSA SEPARATING AND LIVING IN ISOLATION, WHAT SHE WANTED TO LITERALLY DO IN FROZEN 1.

And here's the reason Kristoff became now one of my hated characters in Frozen, He married Anna without any good reason (other than FIRST MOVIE! DERP!) all so Disney could have their old ending of a wedding.

Back when Frozen 1 came out, people were already making predictions that despite the message of not marrying the first guy you ever meet, Anna would end up with Kristoff cause "Its' Disney, you know they always end up with a wedding and two characters getting together cause fairy tale". Disney wouldn't help itself.

And surprise we were all shocked when Anna didn't got marry at the end. Yes she ended up with Kristoff but the movie gave it quite clear that the two were only dating and that Anna was ready to see the world and not be tied down immediately, after all she had been locked indoors for a great part of her life and needed to be close to Elsa. A different ending than what we expected.

Then Frozen 2 came out and immediately tied Anna down, WHY? Just cause. Aladdin and Tangled all gave more time to their leads and exploring their relationships before the wedding. There was development. What have we gotten with Kristoff other than he loves ice, he likes Anna, likes Sven and he's a terrible musician? Heck we still don't know much about him or who is parents were. He hasn't even confess to Anna and Elsa how he knew of their curse thanks to the trolls. He's to me, still a stranger that Anna married.

As for the idea of Anna becoming Queen now, well I guess this means that Disney won't make a Tv series or a sequel which, I can't believe I'M saying this, we don't need. Because what's the point now? Again see Aladdin and they had a wedding too,... AT THE END OF THE SERIES, which was a good decision since it led us know Aladdin's adventures were over but also we had a good ton of episodes and movies showing us Aladdin's and Jasmine's relationship and interaction. We could see both of them ending up together and ruling Agrabah.

With Anna and Kristoff we just saw most of their time either complaining or Krist easily provoking Anna into throwing hissy fits.

Frankly, and to hit a point that even the Nostalgia Critic have made, Anna had a much more better meaningful relationship we were invested in,- WITH ELSA.

Not gonna go there (I already seen the Hentai comics) but I will point out how Elsa leaving ruined Frozen 2 for me,.. cause that was what Elsa wanted to do in the first movie that Anna prevented Elsa from doing and showing her how the Kingdom still love her.

Sure she has the tribe, but again she makes it clear how close to the forest she is and the tribe is basically just the troll village but with humans. I mean I can see Elsa being chief, but she is now living away from Anna.. again the first movie!

Which brings me to the problem Frozen 2 has for me,

5. NOTHING CHANGED,

And what change (Anna married, Elsa separating and living away) was for the worse!

This not a movie that makes me wish to see the further adventures of Anna and Elsa, cause now is just seeing a married woman with a Captain Wacky of a husband and her isolated sister who the fans assume she's a lesbian cause she has no guy (trust me, that assumption is going to look really bad in the future when Asexuals are finally taken seriously and get more representation.)

In other words, Frozen became The Simpsons! Anna and Kristoff are Marge and Homer and Elsa is either Patty and Selma depending on who you ask.

So if Disney wants to continue now, I guess we can now call the next things "Frozen Zombies".

Okay so I went off the rails at the end since I'm just repeating and elaborating on my problems with Frozen 2 than giving you a plot for a much better Frozen 2 but the truth is other than recasting the elements I have no idea how to make a proper Frozen 2 story.

Maybe if I spent some time on it and drafts or so, which I'm already doing with my edits and uploads.

But if you want a insight in what could had been a better Frozen 2 sequel, well taking a hint from a Frozen pirate dvd, there's the Snow Queen 3 Fire and Ice.

Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 - Frozen Collection Bootleg

Yeah the youtube comments have it calling it "Frozen at home" but being honest here it gave me what I wanted to see in Frozen 2, another elemental that was a human character and further exploration of powers, or a new Elsa with Gerda now wielding the snow queen's powers and doing much more impressive things with them.

Frozen - Elsa Vs Gerda

So I might one day upload my whole Frozen 2 script, but for now I would recommend you to check out the Snow Queen 3 Fire and Ice movie, it's not Frozen 2 and these days is probably a good thing.

Here's the link, just hurry up before Youtube takes it down!

There are times when I feel like I'm completely alone and probably living in a simulation with my feud against Jelsa and the whole Jack Frost fanbase, other than me hardly anyone remembers the movie (outside of fan artists) and less with people being less critical of it than smooching over it as a "nostalgic" movie as oppose to most critics just declaring it a total "Meh" https://www.deviantart.com/triassiclane/journal/Frozen-Vs-ROTG-My-FINAL-ROTG-Review-608588892

Kent Brockman's movie review

Even more the Internet and people are now suddenly acting as if Jelsa wasn't a thing. The fanarts still exist by the load in some places still but as far as social media trending and people looking back at stuff like the Once-Ler fandom and all that, is like it never existed. Hardly has anyone ever address it or even talk about why ROTG is not a thing anymore other than occasional videos talking about the lore like the Youtube channel Wotso who still pretend ROTG is relevant.

That is until this past Sunday morning where I saw a 2 part video on Rise Of The Guardians that has forever change my life. Since I saw the first Jack Frost fangirl that I don't hate and instead Love.

YES I LOVE A JACK FROST FANGIRL.. let me explain my watchers,

So Youtube Algorithm recommended me a channel by someone named hezuneutral. Her video titled "WTF was the Rise of the Guardians book series?!" part 1 instantly caught my attention. I went to her youtube channel and had my doubts, Her videos on Steven Universe aren't exactly on my opinions on the show and if you know my views on it and people not liking it I think those people are missing out on why SU is a special show in comparison to most mainstream shows (at least in regards to a Finale not being a stupid lame villain fight etc..) https://www.deviantart.com/triassiclane/art/Why-I-stopped-liking-Saberspark-844147471

https://www.deviantart.com/triassiclane/journal/Journal-Steven-Universe-Future-finale-Thoughts-835808334

So the signs for me not to watch BUT the title led me know that someone was looking at ROTG without the rose colored glasses and being more critical and actually looking at the books which if you read my journals and fan interactions for all these years, the Jelsa shippers had never read the books or even aware their exist https://www.deviantart.com/triassiclane/journal/Jelsa-7-years-of-Frozen-s-toxic-fandom-813975990 So I had to check out her review of them especially as hers is the only video to talk about ROTG and bringing the books to be expose to the fans which judging by the comments it was indeed full of fans who had no idea there was a book series, (Again, You think FANS who love ROTG would Wikipedia or google it to see more ROTG stuff as oppose to not researching it, seriously what the hell? Do they only search Fan art?)

So I began my viewing of her videos..

Part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhawauewST0&list=WL&index=13&t=10s

So her video starts out with quite a good history lesson on the movie and it's overall reception (including the barely worth merchandise). And she proceeds to tell us how so inlove she is with the movie changing her life and all, which normally I would eye-roll but ROTG was probably someone firts's time in seeing a animated movie speak to them so I let it pass (in my case it was the highly underrated Treasure Planet which spoke to me as a depressed teenager and Disney finally getting teenagers right.) So despite some opinion differences I can't dislike her cause she's has such a fun personality!

This girl isn't a critic, she's a cool Cartoon character without a show! Think of a older Yet more hyper active Star Butterfly or going by her clothing, Rapunzel in 2020. And then they decide to make a Youtube channel. I seriously can't express how much I like this girl other than I am IN LOVE with her personality, and her fun Avatar character is also such a lovely design (Enough that someone already made a Rule 34 of her, Yes Really... And yes I found it and I won't show it here.)

So she proceeds to dig into the books and pretty standard reaction upon seeing how different the book series is in comparison to the lore in the movie.. and is this line that finally seals the deal for me and cause me to fall in love with her (delivered at 9:47 - about Jack Frost spying on a family through their window and them adopting him on the spot)

"Did Nightlight BRAINWASH these people? What is going on? If I saw a white haired kid staring at me from my window in the death of night in winter I'll freak the freak out and call the police or better yet a Exorcist! Also how can they see it? He's a spirit! They shouldn't see him."

That! Like literally is something I have said in the past or similar to it, especially when it comes to Jelsa fangirls portraying Jack Frost stalking Elsa since she's a small girl into womanhood and then marrying her as "Romantic". And if I point out how creepy it is it drives some fangirls mad, yet here is a Jack Frost fan actually describing his act in the book as creepy. Like FINALLY a fan who actually points out how awkward and weird Jack Frost can be in these books (and a bit in the movie), where has she been all my life?

And it gets better..

She then digs into the entire Jack Frost retcon, you know the one where I did a fictional Movie review of it, it if was turn into a movie that was made after a Jelsa movie? And how it didn't made any sense in continuation with the ROTG movie https://www.deviantart.com/triassiclane/art/Other-Dimension-Reviews-Jack-Frost-The-Movie-631527423

Yeah it turns out the whole changes I predicted in confusing the fans play out exactly as I wrote, in that hezuneutral is utterly confused and baffled with the new retcon and Jack frost wandering the Earth meeting historical characters, changing now between adult and child at will like Shazam, adopted by a wolf family (Wait WHAT?!) and becoming a poem before getting his memories back in a snowball fight with some kids who were begging for money, which hezu points out being inappropiate since the poor children are probably starving than in any mood for a game with cold ice (Again, something I point out in how Jack is out of touch in some places! And HAPPY someone else other than me realizes that!).

Then comes my favorite part of her review where she mentions Joyce's writing being the most utterly nonsensical writing ever, and then showing us a example between book Bunnymund and North where she is nearly driven insane (it's at 12:15).

Hezu Review Screeencap

Won't spoil much but she states just how this whole further lore on Jack was unnecessary and better left off. The same for the other guardians and pointless character which don't mean much in the bigger picture. And this for me was clarification on ROTG since she states that the movies aren't in canon with the books, which goes against everything the producers of had ROTG said and why I grew a big dislike towards the ROTG lore to begin with since the two don't connect, they were really smug about their whole attitude of "Well people said how the books were better.. so we are making the movie as a Sequel to the books so they can have both!!"

Part 2 - She mentions Jelsa

"It Get's Weirder" - Hezuneutreal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMpK8n0Pjqc&list=WL&index=13

Facepalm Hezu
hezu dislikes Jelsa

She actually mentions the Jack Frost X Elsa ship! And even better she is not a fan of it, or Jack Frost getting a girlfriend and having a family either! So a Rational, smart Anti-Jelsa fan willing to see flaws in Jack Frost actually DOES EXIST!! IT'S A MIRACLE!

So what does she say about Jelsa which was pretty much universally praised by fans and no one was allowed to hate it and now fans are pretending it never happened??

Well she declares the whole fandom thing a "FORCED ROMANCE". And she brings up what I have said several times for years now, how Jack and Elsa are owned by different studios with ZERO chance of ever happening and said the whole thing was supported by Joyce because of "Fandom harassment".. which wow, I saw it as Joyce pandering to the Jelsa fans but in Hezu's own words and her knowing more about ROTG and Joyce than I though I did, That's a correct way to explain why Joyce supported it. Especially as Joyce already shipped Jack with Mother Goose Katherine in the books who's a OC opf his daughter. Joyce didn't did it cause he knows Elsa's character (Doubt he even saw Frozen) but probably because stupid fangirls keep emailing and messaging him to say "Yes" to Jelsa, fangirls who again probably never read the books and only knew Joyce created Jack Frost.

Or and she mentions the whole Isadora Duncan detail that Joyce wrote in how this REAL person who died a really horrible tragic death https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isadora_Duncan get's treated as a LOL joke in Jack's past, as she was so inlove with Frost that she threatened him with tossing herself into a volcano if Jack didn't marry her. Hezu loses it with that detail and for me I might had known about it but already makes me hate Jack Frost even more in how he is written to be this Chick-magnet that no girl can resist. Even more upsetting is how many jelsa fans and artist often do this sick thing of having Elsa nearly commit suicide cause she can't live without Jack Frost and is portrayed as "romantic" and not at all a serious mental issue or unhealthy obsession.

hezu on Jack ships

She states just how this whole ideal to force Jack Frost into a father role and marriage is so against Jack's character, which again, I have been saying for years, Jack Frost is the Spirit/Guardian of Childhood.. he should remain a CHILD. People LIKE Jack cause he's represents Childhood! JACK FROST IS A CHILD! Which idiots on Youtube (Like IlleFantasy) are ignoring and completely missing the point in Jack's character and why their Pro-jelsa arguments are not understanding Jack's character to begin with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zg1WzKrbxWU

Jack Frost's character is completely destroyed, losses his appeal and is no longer Jack Frost if he get's a girlfriend and gets marry. Simple as that! And that is not me speaking that's Hezuneutral and she is a Jack Frost fangirl! So anyone else coming here with "Nuh Huh, But Jack Frost can be a good boyfriend Blah,blah,blah"-NO, Shut up and LISTEN, That's a trait so out of Jack's character and not him at all.

Hezu says is fine to ship (she does it too), but not to the insane levels of the fandom who want Jack not only getting with Elsa but also marrying her and have kids, Kids that would be a entire mess since they will be immortal monsters and probably reproduce like rabbits and soon need a deluge to wipe them out like the Nephilim (A Biblical example of what happens when immortals reproduce with mortals - apparently this example pissed off the angry Jack Frost fangirl who keeps sending me hate notes https://www.deviantart.com/triassiclane/art/angry-Jack-Frost-fan-comment-Part-2-The-Ranting-845625471

The rest of the video is also very informative and further putting my complains of the books to a wider audience than my DA page can ever do, like the whole "Jack aging at will to become a adult and be one" which I always suspect was Joyce's way to give more possibility to the Jelsa fans cause now they can ship her with Elsa without the whole "he's still a child" thing, which for me still isn't any less creepy taking into account Jack's immortality and having watched Elsa since she was a toddler.

Judy Hopps Vs. Jelsa

The line she delivers that I applaud her for perfectly summarizing New Post-Jelsa Jack Frost is this,

"I don't know if Jack actually cares about children in the book series anymore, since it seems he abandoned the concept of childhood and move to converse to adults now,"

Is in context to something else but again, this is why Jack Frost being with Elsa so violates Jack's character and his appeal, he was geared towards children and now being a playboy adult is not the same character anymore. Fans often complain on other characters changing so much they are no longer fun or recognizable (See SVTFOE) and THIS should be one too and any fans arguing for Jelsa is not realizing how they are doing that same mistake they accuse shows of doing but only 100 times worse.

Hezuneutral stars to end the video with Joyce's family tragedies and how maybe that's a explanation on his recent drastic changes which again I pointed out before but was probably more upset about it in regards to Joyce approving of jelsa (Especially as Hezuneutral provides video footage of which it frustrated me.). Hezu also laments how is sad for her in how DreamWorks has abandoned ROTG altogether and the future of the franchise being dead, and anything new now being tainted thanks to Comcast which she mentions several recent shows that ruined their movies (She shows the Spirit series as an example - I think is a okay series but agree that is fails to understand the original message of the movie)

She says what I think also best represent my opinions on new shows and me being okay with spin-offs, sequels, prequels, and tv shows.

" I don't care if the tv show sucks, I just want content."

And I swear, I actually want ROTG to come back and be a series (a crappy one of course) just to make Hezuneutral happy, seriously she is amazing and adorable and really gets me in the feels in how sad she is which her favorite movie being abandoned by Dreamworks.

I'll like to email her and note her how much I love her content and a big thank you for spreading the knowledge of the books, the state of future ROTG projects and more importantly how terrible Jelsa is (having a Youtube channel has a bigger audience than a DA channel). Then again considering all the Anti-Jelsa fan art I have made of Jack Frost getting killed off and being a monstrous super-villain thanks to Jelsa ruining Frozen for me and the shippers driving me insane she's probably better off not knowing I exist seeing how much she loves Jack. I don't want her to have heart attack..

Infinity Friends - Jack's evil army

So not much else to say but go watch her video and tell others to see them, especially part 2 since I think she makes a much better argument agains Jelsa than my entire history of Hating Jack Frost and wanting to murder him in many creative ways.

Give her a thumbs up, subscribe to her and even join her patreon, she deserves it! The best Rise Of The Guardians fan ever!

Steven Universe Future ended some months ago, and while the majority of people consider it one of the best finales, there's probably a few who aren't exactly happy with it. I fall on the category that wish it had answered a few questions and the fate of two newly introduce villains (Blue Bird and Mean lapis) but overall fine with it and praise the focus on relationships and the big climax being a much needed group hug https://www.deviantart.com/triassiclane/journal/Journal-Steven-Universe-Future-finale-Thoughts-835808334

But a few days after its premiere I saw a post from, let's call her Luca, who somewhat was unhappy with it and said that the finale reminded her of Star Butterfly Vs. The Forces of Evil.

Yes I'm being serious. Even more shocking is Luca is a very talented artist but with that post I can't help but think that she probably was missing the point of the series and its structure.

Look there's difference on opinion but this is something I'm sure everyone including people on Youtube with channels can agree on, Star Butterfly has one of the most catastrophic finales ever and Steven Universe is miles away from that mess. And is amusing for me to say that since I was once a person who was watching Svtfoe and not SU, and prefer the former over the much praised latter. The Svtfoe finale left such a bad taste in my mouth that I been wanting to talk about it despite already been a year since it ended and wanted to discuss it around this time when it ended.

All the reasons here are solely mine and some going against what fans were happy with. This is not some "There are hidden SJW messages!" rant like other stupid claims idiots ramble about https://www.deviantart.com/triassiclane/journal/Rant-Toons-Expose-is-Dumb-Paranoia-782774426 but more than a few personal nitpicks and storytelling choices that I couldn't tolerate, some that fans might not like.

1. The Pointless Romantic plots/Ships that were REALLY Unnecessary.

I start with this one cause THIS is the main complaint Luca try to compare Steven Universe too. He/She said

" They ignore a ton of storylines and characters for the sake of a ship"

And I can't help but wonder if Luca saw the same show as people did. First all, Connie was barely in the last episodes and their relationship wasn't the focus. Yes her saying "No" to Steven was one of the things that set him off but it wasn't the focus and it wasn't even stated that the two would 100% get married. It was left as a possible fate but not downright force (..unlike Frozen 2.. with Anna and Kristoff....)

Frozen 2 - How the Question should had ended

Svtfoe on the other side, Boy that was a whole season of pointless ships that we didn't needed at all! WHERE DO I EVEN START?!

To try to be simple, It was OBVIOUS Marco and Star were gonna end together. Not just because they are the two leads but because when they first met and further hints from the 1st episode hinted that Star actually like Marco and even had a crush on him. If the two were wild animals, Star would had immediately jump on Marco and get it on like wild rabbits. You can see it in her movements that Marco was to her liking.

The first seasons went for that narrative. Star liked Marco and later had to make the difficult decision to leave him behind when Toffee returned (if I can remember). And then everything went downhill when Star got back together with that Tom Lucitor.

Tom Lucitor was first introduce as having been Star's former jealous boyfriend with anger issues and even try to trick Star into falling under a spell with the Blood Moon.. and yet people still for some reason wanted Star to end up with him! Like I get the narrative of him starting out as a antagonist but the whole thing if him suddenly wanting to get back on Star's good graces and be his romantic lead (Despite obvious hints that it had been a unhealthy relationship and him being a possessive boyfriend) just came out of nowhere and felt rush. It didn't help that in the meantime Marco had to face a arc where he had to deal with moving on from Star and starting a new relationship with Kelly, which as a second choice wasn't that bad and she was actually a sympathetic character. The show really wanted to us to know that the two weren't meant to be together and to move on from that..

And then the show decided to say "SIKE!!" and reveal to us that our first answer was right all along! By having Star basically cheat on Tom by kissing Marco in order to break some old spell (yet wasn't the Blood Moon already enough?) and then reveal that the two never got over each other and then have Tom break-up with Star and she not wanting too despite her obvious feelings for Marco.

Somehow the emotional break-up manage to just annoyed me even more by Tom saying to Star how the two could maybe, in another life, "Both be cute PandaCats". Which way to ruin the eventual match for Star and Marco since now there's a whole ton of fans now insisting that "Well the two are together now but in some future timeline/reincarnation or some other crap, both Star and Tom will finally be truly together like they were meant to be... or how Tom wanted to trick Star into with the Blood Moon."

And not helping are the fans that resulted from this unnecessary detour with Shippers fighting each other and even complaining about the obvious Starco ship that was meant to be the original couple for the series since the very beginning. I remember how when Marco and Star finally got together (which was gonna happen anyway) the youtube comments had one StarXTom fan bitching and ranting how the two made their moment in a "stinking shitty stable". I though it was a honest moment showing the two getting their relationship back, not by making it a spectacle but by being more private and humble in a barn rather than the overblown fancy rich location that was done with Tom, which is where the entire pointless detour started, and even then Star wasn't having a good time at all.

Overall the series would had been done quicker or explored its vast lore (more on that later) if this whole relationship plot was ignore or just never happened outside of Star having a crush only for Marco.

But moving on from this and to the next thing..

2. PONYHEAD WAS THE WORST - Undermines the whole Social message SVTFOE is trying to make. Was a Unfunny Bully.

GODDAMNED PONY HEAD. I still can't believe this atrocity of a character still has fans who defend her..

So to understand why I despise this character, I have to talk about my life. You see a had a ton of bullies in school, even worse this was around the late 90's and early 00's before this whole "Anti-Bullying" took off and teachers honestly did not gave a shit about students abusing each other and went for the "Boys will be boys" and "You have stand up for yourself" crap. The worst years of my life, and saw the worst of all types of kids. And among those was the Sassy Ghetto valley girl accent Bitch. I had a Pony Head. And Turd was close to one of her insults I had to deal with.

Literally the minute Pony-head showed in the 2nd episode I should had tune off, cause if I had know she'll end up being a permanent part of the series I would had never watch SVTFOE. Pony Head was a unfunny bad version of Cloud Princess. Even more in how Pony Head from the first minute she meets Marco she nicknames him "Earth-Turd", a name that display's Pony head's blatant xenophobic views of Earth. You might think this is looking way too deep into this and exaggerating but how would the fans react if this was a more mature series and Pony Head called Marco "Earth Shit" or "Human Crap"? Would Pony then be as endearing and though as "Funny" if she continue talking about humans and Marco as "Those Earth-Shits" while being obnoxious and the annoying party girl?

Even more the series doesn't help at all by focusing episodes on her and trying to make Pony Head a likable character in the episode "Ponymonium" where we are suppose to see her sisters as bad for plotting to assassinate her to get the Throne yet it is revealed that is Pony Head's jerkass bully behavior that drove then this way which knowing how much of a jerk she is one can only imagine what hell must be living with her. "Running with Scissors" also reveals that Pony head stole some dimensional scissors and the one who had to pay the consequences for using then wasn't Pony but Marco, who had to spent many years trying to defeat Hekapoo and growing up before he was returned to normal and struggle to get back to normal.. while Pony learn nothing and never even apologize for ruining Marco's life.

And Pony Head's preference in continuing to call Marco "Earth Turd" extends to the final last season which contradicts and undermines the whole social message that star Butterfly hammers a lot with the whole issue of Monsters being the original residents of Mewni.

3. The Social Message Fails and Eclipsa and Globgor shouldn't had gotten together.

As a minority and religious person, I'm fine with preachy messages about accepting others and etc.. I mean as a 90's kids it was common to see those social messages in old cartoons (Captain Planet, Static Shock, X-men, PBS shows) so no complaining from me.. but SVTFOE was the first time I can say, "yeah this isn't working and is too much."

I uploaded a comic that sums up my feelings for why the series fails, mostly in how monsters where the villains when the show started.

Svtfoe - Why its message fails

Never where there any hints of monsters being more than villains and the main bad guy of the first season and real threat was Toffee. Even more with the history of the Human Vs Monster war that happened centuries back, yet the later seasons showing humans as the bad guys and acting like everything wrong was their fault while monsters where supposedly innocent, despite some of them eating humans.. which brings me to the BIG reason the show lost steam with me, Globgor

Okay here's a nitpick of mine when it comes to romance, I don't like the whole female human on male monster romance, mostly cause media seems to be double standard on it by barely showing the reverse as good. I get is a whole Beauty and the Beast angle but other than the Disney take hardly any of them work for me, made even worse by Twilight and Jelsa. So Eclipsa my favorite character going for Globgor was a turn off for me BUT still wanting to continue watching cause of the not so subtle hints that Globgor was probably a bad guy.

It was stated that Globgor ATE people and destroy kingdoms, he burn the entire spiderbite kingdom to the ground! https://starvstheforcesofevil.fandom.com/wiki/Surviving_the_Spiderbites and when Eclipsa returned to her old castle where Globgor was trapped in crystal, the music indicated that this was bad and he was a threat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql1ob6fLafk later epsiodes showed Eclipsa as being someone not to trust since she wanted to secretly bring her husband back... And then Globgor came back and was a completely lame teddy bear.

This is the monster that ate King Shastacan and burn down a entire kingdom?! And if it was true then are we suppose to forget those war crimes cause "awww look how much he loves Eclipsa and so happy together!". No wonder we had a finale where so many creatures died yet we are suppose to ignore in favor of our "heroes" having a Happily Ever After.

Did not like that big question mark on Globgor and the series ignoring that and dropping it. Also I wasn't a fan of his design, since it was too much demon-like and not subtle in being "Hey he looks like the devil but he's actually a good guy cause don't judge a book by its cover! GET IT!!"

Plus they had a hybrid daughter who was a good interesting character,.. and was turn into a stupid baby character. The fans had so much better ideas than what we got in the show.

Marco and Meteora - Negative Gemini - Bad Baby

Mine was to see a teenage Meteora who would try to make friends but feel bad that she had attempted to murder Marco previously. A bit out there but then again, Marco had already turn into a adult before turning back into a teenager to be with Star.

But Meteora wasn't the only wasted story..

4. THEY WASTED MINA LOVEBERRY

I have already said a lot about how much of a dissappointment SVTFOE was in not using or exploring Mina Loveberry or how it ended disrespecting Sailor Moon of which he producers stated that Mina was a "tribute" to SM and inspiring Star.

Usagi reacts to Mina Loveberry - Rant

Unlike the stupid fangirls who post on how much they hate Mina and all, I actually like Mina, even more when we got a flashback to her past and she was --in any other story -- basically Cinderella https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlTiv6KyIEc

Only instead of turning into a Princess she was turned into a psychotic killing machine courtesy of Solaria who the fans have praised for abandoning Mina in the final episode.. despite the fact that Solaria herself killed hundreds of monsters and created the whole program of Solarian warriors.

Plus the show was clear that Mina was crazy and needed help, yet Star never bother to help her and never made clear whether Mina did hated monsters or it was all Solarian's magic. A character like Mina would had been better use in something like Steven Universe, where actual therapy was use.

Infinity Friends Future - Even more Growing pains

But no, the series instead pandered to the more dumber fans (Pony Head was now a regular) and Mina was bad because "she was being mean to the poor innocent monsters!". And Mina was made the last villain despite the fact that there was a much bigger threat in the never before seen villain Seth of Septarsis https://villains.fandom.com/wiki/Seth_(Star_vs_The_Force_of_Evil)

But I guess they didn't go for a monster villain cause the show was now "Monsters are the right owners of Mewni and it was all the humans fault! HUMANS BAD! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED HUMAN!".

I'm 100% fully convinced that if they revisited how Moon's mother died (Comet Butterfly) they would had changed it from Toffee being her killer to a human just to drive this new monster biased plot further.

5. They wasted a interesting lore.

Proof that I don't hate the show nor remember it as a bad experience is that I bought the Book Of Spells

Star book of spells

You can make a entire SVTFOE spin off series based on this book because of the so many stories, characters and history this book has, which the series itself never explored.

People want a return or movie of SVTFOE and I wouldn't mind if it was centered on this book cause so much of it's universe was never truly explored cause we were to busy spending a entire episode on stupid Pony Head.

6. Star changed (and yet Pony Head didn't)

I tend to excuse the whole change of Star's personality with the excuse that her life was in danger and also taking responsibility for her kingdom so of course she would stop acting childish and become a adult.

BUT I did notice how Star overall stopped being a fun character and no longer had her cuckoo crazy tendencies like Mabel from Gravity Falls did right through the very end. Star no longer had her spark and wackyness, gone where the times that Star would scheme in order to take down a rival because she was jealous of the attention being driven away from her.. or when she turn a high school football game into a battlefield cause she misunderstood earth culture. By the series end Star changed so much that she wasn't the same character at all as she was in the beginning.

The Star who created a Football field with deadly traps is not the same Star who wanted to protect monsters from being pushed off a cliff by Mina. Then again considering how the series treated Monsters with more care and safety than they did with humans that was probably a sign of it.

But despite that, Star became somewhat a more mature person and responsible.. Until the end.

And before I get to that, I'll like to point out that the only character who didn't change was Pony Head, who SHOULD HAD BEEN THE ONE TO CHANGE HER SPOILED AND XENOPHOBIC BEHAVIOR CONSIDERING THE THEME OF THE SERIES.

Again had I known that Pony Head would be a recurring character more than Mina I would had stopped watching since the first episode.

7. The Magic Genocide -

Svtfoe - Something clearly went wrong

I don't think I can add any more than people already have said, other recycling the same thing I said in a post.

"Overall, I could had been okay with Hekapoo dying-- had stupid Pony Head also died too cause you know Pony Head Hair Flip (Star vs the forces of evil) She's a MAGIC TALKING DISEMBODY HEAD! The fact that the producers went out to explain that Pony wasn't a magical creature but an evolved species of horse Twilight face palm icon is just the most insulting excuse I have ever seen for a character surviving despite the show's stating that she should had been gone (is that's the case is there a butthole under her flat bottom where the horse toro should be? How do they breed?)"

And last and something that has always bugged me about the Svtfoe fanbase and related to a angry comment I got from a rabid triggered Jack Frost fanatic is the whole

"Well Mina was being mean and wanted to commit genocide against those poor monsters who did nuthing!" At least is what think I saw in that rambling on a comment, I ain't reading it (Check the Angry Jack frost comment post part 2 the ranting).

So Mina is pure evil.. EXCEPT IT WAS SOLARIA BUTTERFLY WHO CREATED HER!

8. Solaria Butterfly

Chances are you probably seen fans praise Solaria because she disowned Mina and let her drown by the unicorn. Except, just like the whole deal with Monsters being portrayed as innocent despite their recorded crimes, Solaria Butterfly not only created Mina and the whole Solarian monster but was a Genocidal monster slayer!

Svtfoe - Solaria's killing notes

Notice the many times she says "Is better this way" on every method to kill monsters.

Yeah fans tend to pretend or not even know that therefore they tend to portray Solaria as a hero with Mina has being everything wrong she did, when in reality Solaria was responsible for the whole monster hate and the reason Mina became a monster hater cause she was trying to please Solaria who killed monsters on a daily basis.

Svtfoe - Solaria's last note

Take a look at this clip showing the origins of Mina and tell me, does that girl look like a monster hating fanatic?? As oppose to Solaria who immediately jump on the opportunity to attack a monster and then wanted the village to rally behind her to continue her crusade and then instantly took a peasant girl for her genocidal experiments https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlTiv6KyIEc&t=29s

yet Svtfoe play her as a utter villain and Solaria as a great Butterfly yet no explanation how the slaughterer of hundreds of monsters got off easy or forgiven. Nope it was all Mina fault.

The fans and many want a new season or movie to this series but I don't. Given the bad story choices, mixed messages and theme and a mess of a plot and social commentary this series is gonna need some new writers who can write a proper series.

To go back to what led me to create this post and that member comparing the finale to SU for which she is completely wrong, I'll say that the writers of Steven Universe could fix this mess, the reason being that SU acknowledge character flaws and deconstructed old story cliques which Svtfoe is guilty of many. Sure they didn't concluded many plots (Mean Lapis, Bluebird and Greg's parents) but didn't give us villains who's motivations weren't explored.

If not then Alex Hirsch, who almost everyone can universally agree gave a proper send off to Gravity Falls and closed all loose plots and explored every bit of lore. The fact that there were some Easter Eggs teasing Svtfoe being in the same world as Gravity Falls could made a new retcon better than what it was before https://www.pinterest.com/pin/766808274031593163/

I said in a post that I almost feel I like have to show photos of my copy of the book in order to be all like "see I don't hate Svtfoe", and I seriously do not hate Svtfoe .. is just that for me is become the equivalent of Star Wars to make a accurate comparison.

Svtfoe has so much potential and interesting characters, is just that it was derail with so many wrong priorities tha it all came crashing down.

I still remember the series and see what awaits for it in the future but for now, it just is that series that gave us great characters but don't bother watching the entire series. For Now..

So the short review of the finale is this comic

After Watching SU - Finding Sailor Moon's Champion by JurassicJinx

But for a longer review and thoughts well read below,

So the Steven Universe series came to a emotional close and the only thing left is the upcoming "Steven Universe: End Of A Era" artbook which I hope to buy www.amazon.com/Steven-Universe…

So with my opinions already out on how much I love how SUF became so relatable to me www.deviantart.com/triassiclan…   (and some kids already telling me to see another thing cause "PTSD Man!"-- NO! Ratchet from Ratchet & Clank doesn't has it!! He still goes out to shoot things!!) --ANYWAY, What did I though of the Finale?

Well I voted on a Youtube poll as "Perfect.. But one or two minor flaws".

Those two flaws being, "What happened to Blue Bird and Mean Lapis??". The overall finale was perfect and feel a bit guilty I didn't cry like so many viewers did, making me a bit jealous.
To be honest and admit a big regret and mistake, I didn't check Steven Universe for a long time and only got around to seeing it with the "Change Your Mind" finale which was already a big hype emotional finale for those who had already followed for years. Which while I only had a passing interest, did watch it cause was a bit caught up on some things thanks to Tv Tropes and just fanart being everywhere.

There was a lot of stuff going around in those years and other shows that I did watch but while SU had a presence it wasn't on my radar. Not helping where the stories of terrible SU fans harasing some fanartist for drawing the characters in other bodies, and then there were the artist that I follow that were poisoning my neutral opinions on SU with their paranoid conspiracy theories about some "SJW" nonsense www.deviantart.com/triassiclan…  BUT then there was CN which I blame on the reason on why I didn't check on SU sooner all those years, cause TEEN TITANS GO! runs nonstop on that channel and whenever I was at home and wanted to see something on CN, TTG was always on air and Steven Universe rarely got that much play. Had CN actually try to promote SU more as people think CN should with a highly praised show rather than TTG then I might had check SU sooner rather than late in the game. But oh well, at least now I don't have to bother to check on anything on CN since now only Infinity Train remains and who knows when that shows up on schedule.

But anyway back to the finale, Yeah maybe if I had all those years invested then I would had cry like many loyal fans. Perhaps, I'm not someone who likes series finales and often think they need to be longer to give closure on everything. Tangled the series I follow and gave me my favorite recent Disney villain and just ended a while back, but the finale could had been a big more than Zhan Tiri turning into a giant goat monster and being sassy. Still love the Cass ending but I wanted more of her rather than a few minutes of just telling us where Cass went and not explaining why she didn't attend the wedding. Gravity Falls ended and it was good but disappointed Bill was the big series bad guy which I though the show could had created more interesting villains than someone who was causing chaos just for the Evulz.

And not gonna talk about Star Butterfly Vs. The Forces Of Evil, that's a whole different topic.
But Steven Universe,.. despite my two unanswered questions, was actually Perfect than anything I seen before in a while! And yes emotional even to me despite no crying. I still got the impact of Steven separating from his replacement mothers/sisters to finally grow up and go out to make his own future in a uncertain world. It started with Steven grown up by all three of them and now he's leaving the Trio to stand on his own. It is a series that really change from where it first started.

Plus the final battle, it was a unique conclusion that sums up what makes the show so unique from anything else out there and why I became a fan. It isn't about some villains or world ending threats, but is about relationships which outside of adult tv shows you don't get in animated series. Rebecca Sugar and from other stuff I read while researching the show, said (from what I recall) that the show is about relationships and experiences from people she knew, and this show lives up to that and why it resonates with me so well.

I seen a dozen repetitive scenarios where the final episodes of a series involve just punching the bad guy harder till he loses or destroying X to save X and the heroes win. Countless Evil villains that just want to conquer the world and destroy cause "I'm evil! Puny humans!" and other clique GoodVs.Evil plots. SU is the first time I seen people save the day by giving someone a much needed therapy group hug, part of it made by characters who used to be the biggest threats in the universe (I laugh at White Diamond and Spinel hamming it up in blaming themselves for Steven's state) and I'm probably not gonna see that anytime soon outside of a Indie animated film or anime geared at mature serious adults (Like A Silent Voice).

Tumblr 1863ea008a926c8e193529b0c9ffe5ed F908322f 5 by JurassicJinx

So is indeed sad that SU ended since the formula and tone of the show was unique and different and we can only hope future animated series offer similar themes and constructed stories, one about relationships and relatable problems. Who knows what the future holds (No puns intended everytime I said Future in this journal).

So I'm just waiting for the End of a Era book as the last closing credit and discover what else was planned originally and hopefully fuel my Steven Universe theories , and find out whatever happened to Blue Bird and Mean Lapis.

So thanks for reading and take care of yourselves out there.
